Here's a few of Lake Moc-A-Tek's FAQs!

These Frequently Asked Questions are provided to help inform you about Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground and lead to a more pleasant and enjoyable experience for all our guests.  Please call or e-mail the office should you need more information and/or do not find your question addressed below.

Question:
Where are you located?

Answer:
We in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, just off of Pennsylvania Route 590, located half-way between the towns of Hamlin and Hawley.  We are 5-7 minutes from Lake Wallenpaupack.   Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground is just 30 minutes from Scranton, Pennsylvania, 2 hours from New York City, and 2 ½ hours from Philadelphia.

Question:
Are you open year-round?

Answer:
We are a seasonal campground open from May 1st to Columbus Day.  We are closed in the winter but we do offer winter storage for boats and RV’s.

Question:
How large are the RV sites?

Answer:
Because we have a wooded setting, sites vary slightly depending on the placement of trees on each site.  Each RV site has room for an RV, picnic table, fire ring, and 1 vehicle.   Parking for additional vehicles nearby.  Some sites can accommodate up to a 40 ft. RV.

How large are the tent sites?

Answer:
Each one of our 10 tent sites can accommodate several large tents.   All sites start lakefront, are shaded by trees, and extend up to the access road.

Question:
How far in advance do I need to make reservations?

Answer:
It varies.  You can call on the spur of the moment and if a site is available we’ll book you in right away.  Holidays and weekends are our most popular times and can sell-out quickly, but it is best to call and ask about availability.  Mid-week stays are more readily available.  If certain dates are important to you, it is best to book reservations as far in advance as possible and make the applicable deposit.

Question:
What is your cancellation policy?

Answer:
For non-seasonal stays, a (1) night’s deposit is taken at the time of reservation confirmation.  Cancellations are refundable 14-days or more from your check-in date.  For holiday weekends, (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day), full payment is required at the time of reservation confirmation.  Holiday weekend cancellations are refundable 30-days or more from check-in date.

Question:

How close are you to Lake Wallenpaupack?

Answer:
Very close!  Less than 1 mile “as the crow flies”.  We are less than 10 minutes away from the power boat launch at Lake Wallenpaupack.

Question:
How is the fishing at Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground?  Do you have to have a Pennsylvania fishing license?

Answer:
Our fisherman say it is great.  We have small and largemouth bass, blue gills, sunfish, crappies, perch, pickerel, and bullheads.  You can rent a row boat or fish from shore.  Although most of our fishermen practice “catch & release” fishing, we do allow our anglers to keep their catch.

Yes, you must have a Pennsylvania fishing license, except for PA Fish For Free Days on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.  You may apply for fishing licenses on-line or at nearby sports shops.

Question:
Do you rent row boats?  What is the cost?  Do I have to be a camper to fish at Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground?

Answer:
Yes, we rent row boats at very reasonable rates.  Rowboats with oars are $10/day to campers, $14/day to non-campers, both Plus deposit.  We have row boats with motor registration for people who bring their own electric motor that rent for $12/day to campers or $16/day to non-campers, both Plus deposit.  Row boats seat up to 4, with a maximum combined weight of 450 lbs.

US Coastguard approved life vests and whistles are provided with all boat rentals.  Boats may be rented daily, and must be returned by dusk.

Question:
Can I bring my own boat?

Answer:
Only Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground boats are permitted on our lake.

Question:
Can we swim in the lake?

Answer:
We have a swimming pool.  There is no swimming permitted in our lake.

Question:
Do you have a swimming pool?

Answer:
Yes, we have a 75,000 gallon kidney-shaped pool as well as a kiddie pool.  Generally, our swimming pools open no later than late June and close no earlier than Labor Day.

Question:
Do you have a game room?

Answer:
Yes, our rustic Game Room features classic arcade games like pin ball, video games, air hockey table, pool table, board games, books to borrow, and booths for “hanging out”.

Do you have camp activities?

Answer:

Question:
Can I bring my own motorcycle, moped, bicycle, ATV, golf cart?

Answer:
All vehicles which by law require a license must be registered & operated only by a licensed driver with up to date insurance coverage.  Motorcycles are intended for entry/exit to the campground only.  Bicycles are allowed, except the area of roadway starting at the camp entrance and extending down to the Camp Office.  All bicycles and skateboards must have reflectors and lights for night time safety.  Helmets and other protective gear are highly recommended and the responsibility of the rider, and responsible parents and/or guardians.  ATVs are not allowed.  Golf carts are only allowed for handicapped individuals who possess state authorized handicap placards.

Do you allow pets?

Answer:

Question:
Can I store my RV at the campground for the winter?

Answer:
Yes, we charge $150. for RV winter storage from Columbus Day – April 30.  Payments due October 1.

Question:
Can I store my boat at the campground for the winter?

Answer:
Yes, we charge $100. for boat winter storage from Columbus Day – April 30.  Payments due October 1.
